Almost there

Hey look I'm writing another already. See, told you. Anyway. As I mentioned last time, I have exams this week. Finals week of Sophomore year in College. In about three days, I will be home free for the summer. ^_^

At the same time, though, this year I have had an awesome time at school. Not that Freshman year wasn't good, because it certainly was, but this year I feel as though I have made some really wonderful friendships and strengthened some of the ones I made last year. I feel like I'm going to miss school- well, my social life at school, anyway- much more than last year.

Here are just some of the things (other than my phenomenally splendid friends) that have enhanced my Sophomore year:

-West Coast Swing Dancing
So, no big deal or anything, but these are my instructors.

-Starting a blog (yeah, this has actually been pretty fun)

-My job at the library (best librarians ever, people. love them.)

-IRELAND!!!! (Though, I guess that will apply even more so to next school year, when I actually go)

OH MY GOSH I'm GOING THERE NEXT YEAR!!

-Vocal Jazz (In the fall I got to sing two songs that I've always wanted to perform: "Fly me to the Moon," and "If I Were a Bell.")

I did not actually pretend to be tipsy, nor did I hang all over some guy.
Though that would have been super fun to act out.

mmm. Sinatra. : )
-Sweaters

-lists (hehe. I just love making them. obviously. And then I love crossing things off to-do lists. SO satisfying.)

-Writing in general (though that's really a constant, not really specific to this year.)

-BBC shows (Merlin. Doctor Who. Downton Abbey. Sherlock. OH, and not BBC but I started Firefly; that's really good too. )

The Brits know where it's at, TV show wise if nothing else. Though I
seriously love their tea, and their accents, too.

-Coffee (again, this is not specific to this year. but oh, so important to mention.)

-Going on adventures (I try to do this as often as possible.)

How cute is this t-shirt? Gotta love Bilbo. He's got the right idea. : )

Well, That's just a few. The people are much more important, obviously, and a lot of this wouldn't be nearly as exciting without them.

My friend Kim and I at one point went adventuring together, and we saw a really sad little fort (I'm sorry Washington, couldn't you have done  a  little better?) and then a giant cross on a hill. Then a little later I put my foot in my mouth, not filtering my words as I gave some dude "points for his face." -_- It was really fun, though.

Fort Necessity. I'm sorry, I'm just not that impressed.

Roomie and I do stuff all of the time, even if it's just watching TV together after a long day.

West coast swing is just... all kinds of wonderful, and I have loved getting to know my swing friends.

Spring formal with Roomie, Robin, and four of my swing friends, as well as two other friends close by(they were so adorable with their new beaus), was pretty much the best thing ever.

Everyone I know pretty much supported me and spazzed with me with the whole Ireland thing. We have lots of conversations about all the things I hope to do, and also how I'll marry an Irishman and live in a castle. I wouldn't be opposed. : )

All in all, this has been a pretty great year. I mean, there were classes, too, and I am really pleased with all(well, most) of them, too; I feel like I've learned a lot and I think I'm getting all A's.

Ugh. I still have two tests and I haven't even started packing; lots to do before Friday.

I felt like I needed to mention all of that, since it is the last week of this year of college for me, and it's not something I can just leave out. I mean, I don't actually think my life is that interesting to anyone who might be reading. I mean, it might be, but nothing extraordinary has happened I don''t think, unless you count reading more than half of an 8-900 page history book in three days extraordinary; that's a feat, don't get me wrong, just not that interesting for anyone else. I could probably give a lecture or two on European history now, though, if that's any consolation.  But I don't know; at the very least I hope you don't get bored.

I just love... good things. Obviously. that's probably a little ridiculous to say, because I'm pretty sure everyone does. But seriously, I love the little things that make me smile, the friends I have around me, and all of the memories I've been blessed enough to make over the years, and in this instance, this past school year, and I just thought I'd share that. So I have. Ha.

So, that's all for now. I'm not going to stop writing just because the semester is ending, though I can't promise the relative consistency that I've had for the past few months. Well, have a splendid day, wherever you are, whatever you're doing. Good luck if, like me, you have a lot of stressful  end-of-school year stuff, or even if you don't, I guess.

TTFN-Ta ta for now!

Okay, so it's not so bad

Okay, so I realize that my last post was kind of whiny and sad. I legitimately did not mean to make my roommate feel bad about leaving me all alone, so sorry about those things. After about two weeks of Pittsburgh, I think I'm feeling a little better about the whole thing, though. And also I'm still kind of a little hermit who is starting to forget what the sun looks like, I've just read nearly two hundred pages of history homework, and so I've decided to spend some time blogging. Anyway. There are still some big cons to being here: I swear I can hear everything that happens outside this building, and the windows and doors are all completely shut, I checked. I can't hear other tenants, but that group of adolescent boys walking down the street and being generally ruckusy, I can hear them and the car alarm across the way clear as day. And also bus passes are freaking expensive and make me a sad person, especially since the whole job thing has not happened yet. But

Baby, It's Cold Outside

So originally I had another idea planned for post numero dos, however I have been otherwise inspired. : ) Why? Because it's snowing in Waynesburg, and for the first time this winter, it is sticking for more than a couple of hours, and there are actually several inches of the fluffy whiteness on the ground. I have a love-dislike relationship with snow. Or rather, I love snow, but I really dislike the one property that makes it a possibility, and that would be the cold. If snow could come without freezing my butt off, I would be unbelievably stoked. And a little concerned. But mostly stoked. Oh, and it's also not so great for those of us who have an issue walking straight normally. So yeah, it has its perks and its downsides, but who really wants something to be really fun and pretty if it doesn't also have the quality of making everyone's uncoordinated friends make a fool of themselves? I mean, elegance is awesome, but it's pretty great to know that it can add a

To start out with

So, I've thrown around the idea of starting a blog for some time now, and came to the conclusion that I never would. I thought, "Everyone and their five brothers has a blog, and despite the fact that they all hope people will read it, maybe two actually do and one of them is their Mom." As it turns out, for a class that I'm taking as a Creative Writing major, I am, in fact, required to start a blog. Guess I came to the wrong conclusion, there. Oh well, this could actually be kinda fun.  : ) I guess my first post should be a little bit about me, the author.  My name is Amber, and  as I mentioned, I am a creative writing major, and I am also double majoring in history. I know- I have made some seriously excellent choices for an economically sound future. You know that now you all want to go change your majors, and then we can all get together and have a community of box-dwelling authors who have deeply intelligent conversations about the influences of corn on the cu
